Narcotics Anonymous (N.A.) is a 12-step program designed to help addicts stop using drugs and help them find a new way to live.
What is a UK NA?
We are Narcotics Anonymous in the United Kingdom & Channel Islands. If you have a problem with drugs, we are recovering drug addicts who can help you get and stay clean.
How many members are in NA?
Membership Survey: Contains the results of a biennial survey of 22,803 NA members.
Can you drink if you’re in NA?
It is important to note that alcohol is also categorised as a drug by NA, so those who wish to refrain from drinking alcohol are also welcome to attend NA meetings.
Where did na get its name and why?
The name derives from the English soda and Latin sodanum for “headache remedy”. The symbol Na derives from the Latin natrium for “natron” (soda in English). Sodium was discovered in 1807 by the English chemist Humphry Davy from electrolysis of caustic soda (NaOH).
Who can join na?
“Open” Meetings. As in Alcoholics Anonymous meetings, Narcotics Anonymous meetings can be either “open” or “closed.” In open meetings, anyone may attend, including those who are interested in the group and how it works or who want to attend to support a loved one. Closed meetings are only for recovering addicts.
