PEX-a is the highest flexibility PEX tubing and popular brands include Rehau, Uponor (formerly called Wirsbo) and ComfortPro. Typically, PEX-a is used with cold expansion fittings (F1960) or Uponor / Wirsbo’s brand name Propex fittings. Other expansion fittings that can be used are F2080 or Rehau’s Everloc fitting.

How long has Uponor been around?
Uponor today is formed from the European innovators of the past and its roots can be traced right back to the 1620’s. The company has its origins in 1918, with the first plastic pipes manufactured in 1965.
Can you use sharkbite on Uponor PEX?
These are classified based on the way the are manufactured. Pex-A is the only type that Uponor manufactures and is considered to be the best. Apollo manufactures both Pex-A and Pex-B. If your supplier is selling Sharkbite fittings, all sharkbite fittings will work on all three types of Pex.

Is ProPEX the same as PEX?

Can you transition from PEX-A to PEX B?
There are two parts to this transition: the PEX-A MIP adapter and the PEX-B FIP adapter. These parts will thread together and allow you to join PEX-A to PEX-B. The PEX-A side will require an expansion ring while the PEX-B side requires the crimp ring.
