What are the different types of Unistrut?
Most Unistrut Channel is available in Plain Carbon Steel, Perma-Green, or Pre-Galvanized finish. Other options include hot-dipped galvanized and special metals (aluminum and Type 304 & 316 stainless steel).
Can Unistrut be painted?
Pre-Galvanized and Hot Dip Galvanized Unistrut are ideal for applications requiring corrosion resistance. Although the factory finish is perfectly acceptable for most applications, there are also situations where painting with a custom color is needed to add a finishing touch.

Can I weld Unistrut?
Unistrut connections provide the strength of welding but can easily be taken apart. The Unistrut nut is designed so that normal pressure in installing it causes the nut to bite into and lock itself securely o the channel.
How is Unistrut installed?
The nut pictured features a spring, but any Unistrut nut will work. Turn the nut 90 degrees clockwise and align the grooves in the nut with the inturned edges of the channel. Place a fitting over the nut and insert the bolt through the fitting and into the nut. This will hold the nut and fitting in place.
How strong is Unistrut?
Unistrut uses ASTM A1011 SS GR33 steel strip for forming channels. This material has virgin yield strength of 33,000 psi. Tests performed by Unistrut show that after cold-forming, strength has increased to 42,000 psi.

Unistrut aluminum finished products are made from Type 6063-T6 aluminum and adhere to ASTM B221. The load data for beam and column are 33% of the published steel values for Unistrut channels. Aluminum Channels are ideal for outdoor applications and solar racking.
