Torch corals are moderately easy to maintain in reef aquariums. It has an exposed calcified skeletal structure as base and long fleshy polyps with rounded tips that extend from it. They require medium light and medium to high water flow. We recommend placing them halfway in your tank on rocks.

yes they can. as long as they don’t slime then they will be find. Torches and hammers are usually fine to touch as well..

The best placement for your torches would be the middle-to-lower ends of the tank. Then they’re still in reasonably bright light but not straight under the most intense section.

Torch corals are intermediate, but not that difficult, they like moderate light & flow, just enough to keep their tentacles moving but not irritated to the point of the polyp closing.

How long does it take for a torch coral to split?

Yeah I’ll normally see a 2nd or third mouth develop and then it takes 3-4 months to grow skeleton and split. Stable alk and Ca is very important for these guys(like most corals) if you get a Alk drop or spike they will get mad and it’s like hitting the reset button on growth.

Does torch coral retracted at night?

As others have said, it’s completely normal for your torch or any coral to close up some when the lights go down.

Do you dip torch coral?

Yes I always dip my torches in coral RX and it works, bayer works as well. With new corals I acclimate them in a QT with tank water and then medicate/dip. Then rinse in fresh salt water/tank water in a separate container and then into the display.

What causes torch coral to retract?

The coral is situated in the corner, nearby the heater, when the tentacles were at their longest the two heads may have touched the heater, causing them to retract.

Do you need to feed torch coral?
