Is PRO-MIX a good soil?
Pro-Mix is a good lightweight soil that works well for most plants we’ve grown through the years. Another thing to keep in mind with Pro-Mix is that when it dries out it can be tough to re-hydrate in our experience.
Is PRO-MIX BX sterile?
The description at Greenhouse megastore states it’s roughly 80 percent peat and 20 perlite and lime(ph adjuster). It’s supposed to contain ingredients that sterilize it. Hence the ‘bio fungicide “ label.
How long HP PRO-MIX last?
Once in use, it generally lasts about one to two weeks, depending on the rate the manufacturer incorporates, how much water is applied to plants (volume divided by frequency) and plant uptake. If you are unsure of the fertilizer content, check with the growing media manufacturer for fertility levels.
Can I reuse PRO-MIX HP?
There are similar risks between reusing potting soil and reusing Pro-mix, but they are not the same. One of the issues of trying to reuse Pro-mix is that the limestone used to raise and regulate the substrate’s pH will have broken down over time which will cause the substrate to become more acidic.
