The Pro Power Kit included with your Video Doorbell Pro is a small device that makes sure that enough power is sent to your Ring Doorbell to function. It’s required in order for your Ring Doorbell to function properly.
Do you have to use the Pro Power Kit?
If using the Ring Pro as a stand alone device on a transfomer you can use the Pro Power Kit but its not required. If you choose not to use the Power Kit best bet is to call Ring and ask them to send you the Pro Power cable. This is a inline fuse designed to protect the Ring Pro from momentary shorts.
What does the Ring bypass kit do?
With this option, the internal doorbell no longer rings*, which is why a Ring Chime is sent along with it. *The reason why is that with this solution, we remove the internal doorbell from the circuit (ie: bypass it) ensuring that as much power as possible goes from the transformer directly to Ring Doorbell Pro.
Does Ring Doorbell Pro need a resistor?
In addition to the equipment included in your Ring Video Doorbell box, You will need to purchase an electronic resistor. A resistor is REQUIRED in place of a mechanical or electronic doorbell kit for this alternate configuration to work successfully.
Does Ring Doorbell Pro work with existing chime?
The Ring Doorbell is compatible with many different types of mechanical door chimes as long as they’re between 8VAC-24VAC.
Does Ring Doorbell Pro connect to existing chime?
Can you use an existing chime with Ring? Yes. If you have a wired doorbell that you’re replacing with Ring, you can connect your Ring Video Doorbell to keep using your AC chime.

When installing the Pro Power Kit which wire terminals should be used?
To install the Pro Power Kit V2:
Connect one wire from the Pro Power Kit to the “Front” terminal, and the other wire to the “Transformer” terminal, leaving the existing doorbell wires in place. Then, re-tighten the screws. It doesn’t matter which Pro Power Kit wire goes to each terminal.
How do you install a Ring Doorbell Pro without an internal doorbell?
To Bypass Your Internal Doorbell:
Detach the doorbell wires from the internal doorbell and straighten the ends.Firmly insert the doorbell wires into the Bypass Mode holes on the Pro Power Kit V2 until they lock into place.
