A general rule of thumb is that most adults have a PD from 55 to 65 while most children have a PD from 42 to 54.
How much can your PD be off?
During the day, your PD can vary about 3-4 mm depending on your viewing distance. For instance, if your PD is 61 mm when looking at distant objects (i.e. street signs, chalkboard, TV, etc.), it narrows to 57-58 mm when viewing objects within 16-24 inches from your eyes.
Now move your finger closer to the nose, if you find it easy to focus on the finger without any strain or squinting the eyes, then your prescription glasses are perfect. However, if you feel the vision blurry or double then your spectacles glasses have the wrong PD.
Is a PD of 62 normal?
Find it on your prescription, the P.D can be found toward the bottom of your prescription. PD value ranges between 50 mm to 70mm with most common being 62. The near PD is only required when ordering bifocals, progressives.
I would round up, myself, because those gadgets measure at what doctors refer to as “optical infinity” and that usually works out to around 20 feet. I found that rounding my own value up, makes the glasses MUCH more comfortable. But, seriously, those PD numbers that they gave you don’t make a lot of sense.

Can I measure PD from old glasses?

How do you measure your PD at home?

Close your right eye and align the ruler’s zero to the center of your left pupil. While looking straight, close your left eye and open your right eye. Read the mm line that lines up with the center of your right pupil. This number is your PD.
Does PD in glasses matter?

Is it bad if your PD is off?
If your PD is off, the “optical center” of your lenses will be, too, and your glasses won’t be as effective as they should be. You also need your prescription. Lots of optometrists will give you a copy of your prescription but not include your PD.
Which PD to use for computer glasses?
Next, you’ll need to input a Near PD (pupillary distance) for your computer reading glasses. If you were only given one PD measurement, it is most likely for distance so you will need to subtract 2 to calculate your computer single PD.

How do you measure your PD Online?
