Boiler pressure systems differ, so it’s always best to check your manual, to see if you can re-pressurise it yourself. Your boiler may also have instructions on the rear of the control panel. (If you need any tools to remove this panel, don’t touch it!
Can I fix low boiler pressure myself?
Check the pressure gauge on the front of the boiler to see if it has low pressure. Causes of low pressure include leaks and recently bled radiators. You can increase the pressure by putting more water into the system via a filling loop. Call a Gas-Safe engineer if the problem isn’t resolved.
Why does my Baxi boiler keep losing pressure?
There could be debris inside the pressure relief valve. This is the safety valve that usually discharges water if the pressure in the system gets too high. If it is dripping with water and the pressure gauge is too low, your Gas Safe registered engineer will need to clean out or replace the safety valve.
Why can’t I Repressurise my boiler?
You might have noticed the pressure of your boiler drops as soon as you re-pressurise it. The most common reasons for lack of pressure include a leak somewhere in the system or a damaged pressure relief valve. If you’ve tried to re-pressurise the system once and it hasn’t worked, don’t keep trying it.
Can you Repressurise a boiler when the heating is on?
It is not necessary to turn the boiler off to repressurise the system. You won’t have to switch off the power to it either. You will need to turn off the central heating, which can be done from the room thermostat, and let the system cool before filling it with more water.
What pressure should my Baxi boiler be?
The normal operating water pressure for your boiler and central heating system is between 1.0 and 2.0 bar. If the pressure drops below 1.0 bar, you need to repressurise it. If the pressure goes above 3.0 bar, you will see water coming from the pressure relief valve (usually on an outside wall).
