Remove the cover cap to the spring hinge with a Phillips screwdriver. Insert the flat-head screwdriver into the slot in the top of the internal adjuster. Press the internal adjuster inside the hinge down. Turn the adjuster either clockwise to increase tension on the spring or counterclockwise to loosen tension.

Use a #3 flat-head screw driver to increase or decrease tension on the hinges. You may need to remove the toe catch from the bottom hinge with a #2 Phillips screwdriver. Look at the top of the hinge and notice a groove. With the flat-head, press down firmly and turn counter-clockwise to increase tension and vice versa.
