Why does Google think I’m somewhere else?
Your location comes from a variety of sources, which are used together to estimate where you are. You can update your location settings as you use Google services to get the search results you want and control your privacy in a way that’s right for you.
Just open Settings and tap General -> Reset -> Reset Location & Privacy. You’ll need to enter your iPhone passcode to reset your Location Services. This will change your location and privacy settings back to the way they were when you first got your iPhone. Do this, and then try using an app like Maps or Weather again.
Why is Google defaulting to the wrong country?
Google looks up your device’s IP address in their database to determine your approximate location and redirects your Google Search to the appropriate local country service. For a variety of reasons, using IP addresses to determine location is not 100% accurate.
If you get an error like “Your location cannot be determined” or your location is still wrong, here are some steps you can take: Reload your browser (such as Chrome, Firefox, or Safari). Double-check your browser’s permission settings using the instructions above. Restart your computer.
Why is my internet location wrong?
If a website or service doesn’t use official information about your IP address to figure out where you are, then it’s possible you’ll appear in a different location on that site than your VPN says you’re browsing from.
Why does my browser think I’m in a different location?
This can be just a browser error, and to check that, we advise trying out a different web browser. In some instances, the issue can be related to cache, and you just need to clean it to fix the problem. How do I change the Google Search country?
On a desktop, you can find the Settings option in the bottom right corner of the screen. Next, click on the Search Settings. On the Settings page, look for the heading that says Region for Search Results. Choose the region you like from the drop-down menu and tap Save to change Google Search location.
How does Chrome determine location?
If you give Google Chrome permission to share your location with a website, that browser sends local network information to Google Location Services. This way, the browser can estimate your location. That estimation is then shared with the website.
Why does my location show another state?
If the IP address of your device used to log in is seen as being in another location, that message appears. These login attempts that show up are actually just you signing on and your ISP routing the traffic through servers that aren’t near you.
The location used and stored with your Web & App Activity can come from signals like the device’s IP address, your past activity, or from your device, if you’ve chosen to turn on your device’s location settings.
What if my location is wrong?
Tap Menu > Settings > Device > Test location
If your location or app settings are not correct, you will be prompted with details of the issue and a button to correct the issue and refresh your location.
