ferrule and stop

Ferrule and Stop sets are used for looping and swaging the ends of wire rope. Designed for light duty applications. Proper assembly recommends setting with a swaging tool instead of a hammer. Do not use on coated wire rope without first removing the coating from the assembly area.

What are ferrule used for?

A ferrule (a corruption of Latin viriola “small bracelet”, under the influence of ferrum “iron”) is any of a number of types of objects, generally used for fastening, joining, sealing, or reinforcement. They are often narrow circular rings made from metal, or less commonly, plastic.

How do you install a ferrule and stop set?

Slide the required number of ferrules onto the wire rope. For a splice, place the ferrules in a row with the ends of the two ropes passing through them in opposite directions. For a loop, pass the end of the rope back through the remaining openings in the ferrules, forming the appropriately sized loop.

Do I need ferrules?

In addition to providing protection against damage, ferrules offer mechanical advantages during wiring by preventing the splaying and over bending of individual litz wire ends. This is particularly beneficial when performing multiple rewiring operations in the control cabinet – not least from a safety point of view.

What are the different types of ferrules?

There are four different types of ferrules: Insulated, non-Insulated, single, and twin.

What does a ferrule look like?

Cable Stops prevent movement of rope beyond a certain point. Stops should be fastened by using a Swaging Tool. Aluminum material provides strength and corrosion resistance.

How do you crimp a ferrule and stop without a crimper?
