What happens when you collect all the shards in Dragon Age: Inquisition?
Collecting multiple shards enables the completion of several side quests (see Shards for more details) associated with the Solasan Temple. Once every shard has been collected the final door at the very heart of the temple can be opened. This section contains spoilers for: Dragon Age: Inquisition.
Do you need all the shards in Dragon Age: Inquisition?

The name felandaris is elven, meaning “demon weed,” which is fitting for this rare plant because it grows only in places where the Veil is thin. Felandaris is easily identified. It’s a twisted, wicked-looking shrub with long, thorny shoots, and no leaves: a skeletal hand, reaching out from an unmarked grave.

Vinsomer eventually can be confronted on Dragon Island, located northwest off of the Storm Coast. In order to reach Dragon Island, the Inquisitor must first acquire and complete the war table operation Red Templars on the Storm Coast.
How many shards do I need for Forbidden Oasis?
Speak to Scout Harding once you arrive in the Forbidden Oasis to begin this quest. To enter the Solasan at the end of the quest, you need to have found at least six shards in total. Once that’s done, head north from the starting camp until you reach the Intrinsic Pool, then continue to the east.
How do I know how many shards I have?
You can see how many shards you have by hovering over ‘shards’ in the inventory menu or when you’re upgrading an item. You’ll see a list of each possible attribute – crit damage, healing received, close range damage, etc. – and each will have its own number.
