Can I buy dog food with CareCredit?
You can pay for pet food using your CareCredit healthcare credit card as long as it is doctor recommended and purchased from your veterinarian’s office.
Many of these pet owners don’t qualify for the credit-based options that most veterinarians offer (CareCredit, Scratchpay, WellsFargo, etc.), and they are desperately looking for an alternative. Unfortunately, there are very few veterinarians who offer non-credit-based payment plans anymore.
Do vets take payments?
Not all veterinarians will offer payment plans, but some do. And some vets are willing to negotiate payment plans on a case-by-case basis, depending on the client’s need. If you’re eligible, you might be able to spread out your payments over several months.
Can I use CareCredit on chewy?

Do emergency vets charge upfront? Many emergency vets may charge upfront for their services. It’s possible they may accept payment by cash, credit card, or check. However, it doesn’t hurt to ask the vet if it’s possible to do a payment plan where you pay your bill in separate installments over time.

Can CareCredit be used at CVS?
CVS does not accept Care Credit cards at any of their locations as of 2021. CVS customers cannot use Care Credit for prescriptions, or any other health and wellness purchases made in-store or online. Alternatively, Care Credit can be used by several other retailers for purchases, but not at CVS at this time.
Is it easy to get approved for CareCredit?
For the best approval odds with CareCredit, you’ll need a credit score of 620 or higher. However, some users report approval with scores around 600. If you’re score is lower than 600 you’ll have a hard time getting approval.

Why do vets not do payment plans?
Veterinary clinics are not offered payment plans for their inventory or building costs and they must pay in full when those bills come due. The actual profit margin for veterinary medicine is minimal at best and most veterinarians do not go into this business to make money but for the love of animals.
Can the vet keep my dog if I can’t pay?
Some veterinarians hold pets for payment because it’s bad business to work for free. Other vets don’t hold the animals, because it’s bad business to keep a family from a beloved Labrador or Siamese. Some vets find homes for pets held for nonpayment; some just send them to humane shelters.
