As mentioned previously, there is no cost to create a basic membership on Care.com. The Basic Membership allows you to post a job, preview responses from care providers near you, and browse through the active care providers on the site.
Do you always have to pay for care com?
The basic profile on Care.com is free for individual care providers. You can advertise your services, apply to jobs, and communicate with families with your free account. There is an optional, one-time fee for a background check if you choose to host one on your profile.
You can sign up for a basic account on Care.com and use the site for free. However, the basic account only gives you access to certain features, and doesn’t allow you to easily communicate through the online messaging system. To get more features, you need to purchase a paid membership subscription.
How much does care com take out of your pay?
Care.com will take 2 percent of the existing 12 percent transaction fee it charges families and contribute that money to benefits for those families’ caregivers.
The most common Care.com scam is caregivers misrepresenting their background and experience on their profiles. This is a common problem among caregivers both on the platform and off of it, and we will discuss how Care.com is combating the problem in the next section.
Why does care com charge now?
As part of those efforts, to join our platform all caregivers are required to complete an annual background check – CareCheck – as part of our screening process. These enhancements come at a cost and we charge a nominal, annual fee for basic caregiver memberships on the platform.
Is there a free trial for care com?
Is there a Care.com free trial offer available? Basic membership is free and allows you to access helpful content as well as the ability to view and post jobs. To view contact information and other details, including purchasing background checks and requesting references, you’ll have to upgrade your membership.
You don’t have to completely close your Care.com account to stop the billing; just cancel your subscription and continue as a free member. Canceling your subscription can be done at any time.
Does Care com take taxes out?

Should I give my Social Security number to care com?
Your Social Security Number is used to run your CareCheck. If you do not have a Social Security Number, we will not be able to run your CareCheck. We take your privacy seriously, therefore your information is stored using secure encryption.
