Forcing water into the foam creates air pockets resulting in the foam not soaking through properly which will cause flowers to become prematurely dehydrated and die. Instead, gently place the floral foam on top of the water and let it soak naturally.
Is dry foam the same as floral foam?
Floral foam comes in both wet and dry forms, and it’s perfect for creating beautiful flower arrangements. Wet floral foam is used with live flowers that need water, while dry foam is used for artificial flowers and the occasional craft.
Does floral foam soak up water?
Because of the formulation and density of dry floral foam, it will not absorb or take up fluid readily, if at all, when placed in water. Wet flower foam, on the other hand, quickly absorbs water like a sponge. Wet and dry floral foam are not interchangeable for flower arrangements.
Why is it important to soak floral foam before using it?
Wet floral foam must be pre-soaked in water so it completely absorbs the water before any fresh flower stems are inserted, while dry foam is used with no water and is only for non fresh flowers (silk or dried flowers).
Is dry floral foam toxic?
When the foam is dry, the small dust particles that float into the air can be inhaled and cause harm to our respiratory system. Because Phenol and Formaldehyde are just two of the toxic chemicals contained in floral foam, excessive exposure to floral foam can be very harmful to humans.
Do flowers last longer in water or floral foam?
OASIS floral foam retains water and keeps the stems of the flowers hydrated while in the arrangement. Cut flowers need fresh and plentiful water to stay fresh and vibrant; the key to long-lasting flowers in a floral arrangement is to make sure the foam stays moist.
