broken out section

A broken-out section is part of an existing drawing view, that is used to remove material to a specified depth in order to expose inner details of a model. A closed profile, usually a spline, defines the broken-out section.

What is Breakview?

You can use a break (or interrupted) view in a drawing. Break views make it possible to display the drawing view in a larger scale on a smaller size drawing sheet. You create a gap or break in the view using a pair of break lines.

What is a removed section view?

The removed section view is a zero-thickness slice through the model showing only cut edges and hatching perpendicular to the cutting line. That’s different than the traditional section view, which is projected parallel to the cutting line.

What is full section?

Full Sections

When a cutting plane line passes entirely through an object, the resulting section is called a full section Fig. 7 illustrates a full section. It is possible to section an object whenever a closer look intentionally is desired. Here is an object sectioned from two different directions.

What is the purpose of section lining?

Section Lines: Used to indicate where the cutting plane cuts the material. Section lines are thin and the symbols (type of lines) are chosen according to the material of the object.

Why is it the material is removed in broken-out section?

Material is removed to a specified depth to expose inner details. Specify the depth by setting a number or by selecting geometry in a drawing view. If you create a broken-out section of an exploded view, you cannot collapse the exploded view.

How do I change a broken-out part in Solid Edge?

What are the 7 types of section views?

There are a number of different types of sectional views that can be drawn. A few of the more common ones are: full sections, half sections, broken sections, rotated or revolved sections, removed sections, offset sections, and assembly sections.

What is revolved and removed section?

This section in a plane that is perpendicular to the plane of axis, is then revolved and brought in to the plane of the axis and placed in the view in which the axis is seen as a line. This section shown by a thin continuous line is known as revolved section. (Fig.4.2.Revolved section) Removed section.

What is offset section?

An offset section view is generated by offsetting (bending) the cutting plane to show features that are not in a straight line.

What is a section plan?

Plan drawings are in fact a type of section, but they cut through the building on a horizontal rather than vertical plane. The direction of the plane through which the section is cut is often represented on plan drawings and elevations by a line of long and short dashes, called a section plane.

When should a full section be used?

Full sections

This type of section is used for both detail and assembly drawings. When the cutting plane divides the object into two identical parts, it is not necessary to indicate its location.
